The legend of Pine Hill of Two Tombs Da Lat

Pine Hill of Two Tombs is a touching and true love story. It is the story of Ms. Le Thi Thao and Mr. Vu Minh Tam. The proof of that love story is perhaps the two tombs buried on the pine hill for the past 60 years.

The fateful encounter of the young couple

The story is about the accidental meeting of a young man named Tam, from Vinh Long, a student at Da Lat Military Academy, and Ms. Thao, a teacher at Bui Thi Xuan school in Da Lat.

The two accidentally met by the shore of Xuan Huong Lake, fell deeply in love, and got married:

"Even if the world changes

Thao and Tam will vow to be together for life"

The tragic fate of the soldier and the teacher

After graduation, Tam returned home and asked his parents for permission to marry Thao, but faced strong opposition. His parents forced him to marry a girl he did not love. For that reason, Tam requested a transfer to a front-line war zone.

Thao was heartbroken when Tam's family did not approve of their love. And she grew even more anxious when her lover was at the battlefield.

Many people proposed to her, but she refused. Her only joy and reason for living at that time were the death notices sent from the battlefield.

Then one day, Thao received a death notice from the battlefield. Thao was heartbroken and went to the pine hill by the shore of Suong Mai Lake (now Than Tho Lake), where they had once vowed their love.

Overcome with grief, she committed suicide, holding a love letter for her beloved in her hand. When she died, she asked her family to bury her on that pine hill.

But fortunately, Tam did not die; the husband was mistaken when reporting his death. When Tam returned, he heard that Thao had died, and was deeply saddened and grieved for his beloved. He decided to die with her.

To keep his faithful promise to the girl he loved. Before he died, he left a letter asking to be buried next to her grave so that the two could live happily together. His family and friends buried him next to Thao's grave.

In the end, they still couldn't be together

After 1975, Tam's parents brought his remains back to his hometown, but they were old and weak and could not regularly visit their son's grave. Although Tam's remains had been moved, due to their loyal love, Thao's family kept the double grave.

Pine Hill of Two Tombs

Moved by the story, musician Hong Van wrote the song "Pine Hill of Two Tombs". A song with a melancholic bolero melody, the lingering echo of an incomplete love.
