Bao Dai Waterfall – The Pristine Jraiblian Waterfall
The story of Bao Dai Waterfall – Jraiblian Waterfall
Uncle and nephew fighting over food
The story goes that in the old days, in the ktun region, there was an uncle and nephew who went fishing together from morning till evening but found no fish, and had nothing to eat, feeling utterly famished. In the afternoon, they both saw a huge egg in a rock crevice. The uncle, Zuwar, wanted to eat the egg, but the nephew, Stank, refused. After an argument, they finally decided to eat the boiled egg.

The uncle tried to eat first, but the nephew wouldn't let him, fearing his death. A little later, the nephew ate first, and as he ate, he suddenly felt an itchy discomfort. Stak asked his uncle to scratch, but the more he scratched, the more it hurt, so the boy jumped into the water. By then, his body was as big as a buffalo. The next morning, the uncle had to leave Stak behind and return home to inform his family and the village.
Everyone went to the stream, and when they returned home, they saw that Stak had grown even larger, with scaly hands like a crocodile's, and even a tail. At this point, Stak told his parents that he had truly transformed into a crocodile, and no longer wished to live. Therefore, before his death, he begged his parents to feed him enough buffaloes, cows, chickens, and pigs, seven of each.
A heartbreaking ending
However, after eating, Stak did not die but grew larger than the longhouse. At this point, his relatives discussed whether they should keep him any longer. After reaching an agreement, his relatives took a copper tray of boiling water, and with Stak as a piece of meat, when Stak swallowed it, he would collapse and die. His body lay across the stream. His tongue kept sticking out, and the water flowing in his mouth made sounds more beautiful than a piano. It was so beautiful that even the eggs in the nest rolled into the stream to listen. All creatures in the area were mesmerized by that strange sound, abandoning their work to listen.

Bao Dai's favorite excursion spot
Jraiblian was the name the Churu people used to call this sacred waterfall in ancient times. But later, the waterfall also had another name: Bao Dai Waterfall. This is because during his reign, King Bao Dai often hunted in this area. Jraiblian Waterfall was where King Bao Dai chose to stop and rest after each hunting trip.
